Mix Club 3 (from Nicole)

I can tell you like your jazz !

Soul Bossa Nova – Quincy Jones & His Orchestra

I’m sure this has been used in tons of adverts as it was very familiar to me. The tune is a right earworm.

Jambo – Dizzy Gillespie

Classic jazz number, got me bopping about.

Dub Lion – DJ Food

Bit of a world music feel but not my thing.

In The Cave – Jacques Dutronc

A pleasant piece of music to have on in the background.

Green Onions – Booker T & the MGs

Dum dum dum dum…. Another familiar earworm number.

Hand Clappin’ – Red Prysock

High tempo jazz number. Does exactly what it says on the tin, I was clapping away.

Limbo Jazz – Duke Ellington & Coleman Hawkins

Lots of trumpet to swing to.

Swingin’ The Mambo – Tito Puente

More funky jazz. Quite relaxing.

Ode To A Butterfly – Nickel Creek

I hear a banjo. Now we’re talking ! I do like a bit of bluegrass and this is very good indeed. I shall be investigating this further.

Bubblehouse – Medeski, Martin & Wood

This one didn’t make much of an impression on me. Impressive playing but it started to irritate a bit as it got faster. Perhaps I just wasn’t in the right mood.

In A Sentimental Mood – John Coltrane & Duke Ellington

Good old-fashioned jazz instrumental.

When I Fall In Love – from Good Night & Good Luck soundtrack

Loved the movie. Love the track. Perfect for a romantic slow-dance.

No Hay Problemo – Pink Martini

Piano-led jazz instrumental. Had the old shoulders going.

Attack of the Mutant Guitars – The Duke Levine Group

Am I right in thinking Duke Levine is Mary Chapin Carpenter’s guitarist ? I like her. Excellent guitar instrumental.

Time Is Tight – Booker T & the MGs

Baby Elephant Walk – Henry Mancini

Another couple of earworms.

Doin It To Death – The JBs

Strollin’ With Mary Jane – Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys

These 2 didn’t make much of an impression, I’m afraid.

Pagan Love Song – Duke Kamoku & His Islanders

Here be ukeleles. Nice Hawaiian feel.

Two Picks And A Bone – T-Bone Walker & friends

Again, something calming to have on in the background.

Hawaii Five-O – The Ventures

Ba ba ba ba ba… everybody knows this one. Classic !

Thanks Nicole, enjoyed listening and will pick up some more Nickel Creek.

yes, Duke is Mary Chapin Carpenter''s guitarist -- and at one time Rounder Records session guitarist. A guitarist's guitarist, he makes godd bands sound better.
