This was a nice mellow start. I'm sure the lyrics sound familiar, but try as I might, I can't place them.

Very familiar song, but had never heard of the group before.
Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps - Cake
I've heard another mix of this particular track before, but I have to say I much prefer this one. There is almost a lingering menace about this one.
Destination Anywhere - The Commitments
This had me tapping my foot before the end of the first verse, but it didn't seem to build on the great opening which was a shame. It seemed like it was going somewhere but never got there.
Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations
Another one where I recognise the tune but not the group, although without checking this sounds like the original? This reminds me of all sorts of things from my childhood, because I can remember the song being on the radio.
My Fallen Words - Bettie Serveert
I'm afraid I couldn't get this track to play, no matter what I did.
Alabama Song - Audition With Max Reinhardt
Really not for me I'm afraid. I gave it several chances, and yet each time I kept hitting the button to skip to the next track. I think the changes in tempo were what got to me.
Yoo Hoo - Imperial Teen
Most upbeat track so far, but didn't get along with the drawling voice of the singer. I like the track, but kept wanting to tell him to talk properly!
Let's Do It - Joan Jett and Paul Westerberg
Funky track. Liked this a lot. My favourite of the whole mix.
3rd of July - The Jody Grind
"A Suitcase of Fireworks" was one of the lyrics, but I'm afraid it did nothing for me.
I Was Dancing In The Lesbian Bar - Jonathan Richman
Dangerous track this one. It'll have you singing along. Beyond that though I really didn't get along with it.
D.R.I.N.K - The Jazz Butcher
This struck me as a kind of 40's lounge room singer. I did like the trombone solo in the middle, and I think this made me play this track again and again.
A Dios Le Pido - Juanes
I have no idea what the Spanish lyrics are, but I did enjoy this one. Much more my thing.
Sunday Morning - K-OS
Good beat to this, liked the track, but I've never heard of the group before at all. I might see if I can track something else of theirs down.
Minha Galera - Manu Chao
Sorry this didn't do it for me.

Another miss, felt they needed a boost of adrenalin to get through to the end of the song.
Je Me Suis Fait Tout Petit - Geogres Brassens
Another track sung in another language. This time I understood more of the song (just!), and I think as a result it had more appeal to me.
Speaking With the Angel - Ron Sexsmith
This was quite mellow, and I think of all the slower tracks this was probably my favourite.
Caramel - Suzanne Vega
We just don't get on Suzanne Vega and I. We never have, probably never will, sorry.
Open Up Your Heart - Uncle Walt's Band
This was a nice soothing track to have right at the end of the mix, although for some reason the first time my walkman played it, it started from this one and worked backwards!
I think my overall thoughts about the mix, is that it was a little slow for my tastes. Generally I prefer something with more pace. It did grow on me the more I listened and still is. It's a perfect CD to have in the car, and while away the bad traffic, although I still hit next track when Suzanne Vega comes on!
Thanks Nancy, I enjoyed my first mixclub mix, and am looking forward to the next round whenever that may be.
